Getting Started
ForeSight AI Caddie is a free iOS app that puts an intelligent golf caddie in your pocket. It tracks your shots, calculates accurate yardages, recommends the right club based on your personal distances, and provides AI-powered coaching insights after every round.
Think of it as having a knowledgeable caddie with you on every hole — one that already knows your game inside out.
Yes — the core features are completely free. You can track rounds, log shots, see your distances, get club recommendations, and receive AI coaching insights at no cost.
A Pro subscription is available for golfers who want unlimited AI analysis, advanced stat breakdowns, and priority support. See the pricing section on our homepage for details.
Just an iPhone and a free account. Download ForeSight from the App Store, create your profile, add the clubs in your bag, and you're ready to play. GPS and location access are required for accurate distance tracking during rounds.
Go to the My Bag tab and tap the + button to add your clubs. You can enter a starting distance estimate for each club — ForeSight will refine these over time as you track more shots. You don't need accurate distances on day one; the app learns as you play.
Currently ForeSight is iOS only. An Android version is something we're actively considering — if you'd like to see it, let us know at support@foresightcaddie.com. The more demand we hear, the sooner we'll build it.
AI Caddie
The AI caddie uses your personal shot history to understand how far you actually hit each club — not generic yardage charts. It factors in your distance to the pin, real-time wind and weather conditions, elevation change to the target, and your miss tendencies to recommend the club most likely to get you close.
The more rounds you play, the better the recommendations become. After 5+ rounds you'll start to see a meaningful difference in accuracy.
ForeSight is powered by Claude, Anthropic's AI model. We use Claude Haiku for real-time on-course advice (fast, low-latency responses) and Claude Sonnet for in-depth post-round analysis and coaching reports (more thorough, richer insights).
Every day ForeSight generates a personalised coaching insight based on your recent round history. This could be a mental tip, a technique focus, a course management strategy, or a drill you can practise at home — all tailored to the specific patterns showing up in your game.
At-home drills use everyday household objects (a broom, a towel, a water bottle) so you can work on your game without needing a range or equipment.
Yes. ForeSight includes a voice caddie mode where you can say "Hey ForeSight" to activate it. You can ask for club recommendations, distances, or advice hands-free — ideal when you don't want to be fiddling with your phone between shots.
You can also choose from different caddie voice personalities in your profile settings.
ForeSight tracks detailed shot-level data including club used, shot outcome, proximity to pin, fairways hit, greens in regulation, and putting stats. Over time this builds a picture of your strengths and recurring patterns — for example, if you consistently miss greens short-right with your 7-iron, or three-putt from outside 20 feet, the AI will identify and address those specific issues.
Scoring & Rounds
Tap Play from the bottom tab bar, then search for your course. Select the tee box you're playing from and tap Start Round. ForeSight will load the hole map and you're off.
If you want to play a group round with friends, you can set up a multiplayer session from the same screen — see the Multiplayer section for more details.
During a round, tap the Log Shot button after each shot. Select the club you hit and confirm your result. ForeSight uses your GPS location at the time of logging to calculate the shot distance automatically.
You can also review and edit all shots for a hole via the Shot Log view before moving to the next hole.
Yes. At the end of each hole you enter your score — shots, putts, fairway hit, and green in regulation. You don't have to log individual shots, though the more you track, the better your AI insights and club distance accuracy will be.
The hole map displays a satellite/flyover view of the current hole with overlays for the fairway, green, and your target position. A line from your position to the target marker shows your shot angle and distance. You can drag the target pin to plan layup shots or alternative landing zones.
When you're outside the hole's boundaries (e.g. on the tee box of a distant hole), distances and map lines anchor to the tee box so everything is still useful.
Yes. Tap Rounds in the bottom tab to see your full round history. Each round shows your score, course, date, and handicap differential. Tap any round to see the full scorecard, shot-by-shot breakdown, and your AI post-round analysis.
Clubs & Distances
Each time you log a shot, ForeSight records the GPS distance from where you hit to where you were next measured. Over time it builds a statistical distribution of your real distances for each club. The average shown in your bag reflects your actual carry, not a manufacturer's chart.
You can also see your distance history and trend for each club in the club detail view.
The accuracy ranking in the My Bag tab shows how close each of your irons and wedges is leaving the ball to the pin on average. Clubs are ranked from most accurate to least, giving you a clear picture of which clubs you're most reliable with from scoring range.
Go to My Bag, tap the club you want to edit, and select Edit or Delete from the club detail screen. You can update the club name, type, and starting distance at any time. Deleting a club removes it from future recommendations but does not delete your historical shot data.
Distances are most accurate after several tracked shots with a club. Early on, with only 1–2 logged shots, a single outlier (a topped shot, a mishit) can skew the average. As you log more shots the average will stabilise. If you notice a clearly bad data point you can delete that shot from the round history and it will be excluded from future calculations.
Handicap
ForeSight uses the World Handicap System (WHS) methodology. It takes the best 8 score differentials from your last 20 rounds, applies ESC (Equitable Stroke Control) adjustments where applicable, and averages them with a 0.96 multiplier.
A minimum of 5 completed rounds is required before a handicap index is displayed. After that it updates automatically each time you complete a round.
ForeSight's handicap is an unofficial tracking index designed to give you an accurate measure of your current form and improvement over time. It is not submitted to a national golf union and cannot be used in official club competitions. For official competition handicaps you'll need to register with your national golf association.
Handicap is only calculated when you properly complete a round using the Finish Round button — not if you exit mid-round. Also, you need a minimum of 5 completed rounds before the index appears. If you've met both conditions and it still looks wrong, try pulling down to refresh the stats page, or contact support.
Multiplayer
One player creates a group round and invites friends using a join code. Each player has their own ForeSight account and plays their own round independently. Scores are synced in real time so everyone in the group can see the live leaderboard at any point during the round.
Yes — each player in a multiplayer group needs their own free ForeSight account and the app installed on their phone. Creating an account is quick and free.
Yes. The Social tab lets you connect with friends on ForeSight and view a head-to-head comparison of your key stats — handicap trend, scoring average, fairways hit, greens in regulation, and putting average. A great way to add a bit of friendly rivalry to your game.

ForeSight uses GPS during active rounds to calculate shot distances, determine your position on the hole map, and provide accurate yardages. Location is only accessed while the app is in use — we do not track your location in the background. Shot coordinates are stored as part of your round history to power club distance analytics.
Technical Issues
ForeSight's course database is powered by iGolf, which covers thousands of courses worldwide. Try different search terms — the full course name, just the club name, or the city. If your course genuinely isn't in the database, email us at support@foresightcaddie.com and we'll look into getting it added.
AI advice requires a network connection to our servers and Claude's API. Response times depend on signal quality — on courses with poor mobile coverage this can take a few extra seconds. The hole map and distances work offline using cached course data, but AI responses need a live connection.
GPS accuracy is typically within 3–5 metres on a clear day outdoors. Distance accuracy can be affected by:
- Trees or buildings blocking GPS signal (common on parkland courses)
- Logging a shot while still walking (distance is calculated from log position)
- Logging before GPS has stabilised after opening the app
For best results, log shots while standing still at your ball's location with the GPS indicator showing a good lock.
First, check you have a data connection. Then try:
- Double-check your email and password (watch for auto-correct on email)
- Use Forgot Password to reset if needed
- Force-quit the app and reopen it
- Delete and reinstall the app (your data is stored in the cloud — nothing is lost)
If none of that works, contact us at support@foresightcaddie.com.
We genuinely love hearing from users. You can submit a support ticket directly from within the app via Profile → Help Centre, or email us at support@foresightcaddie.com. For bug reports, including your device model and iOS version helps us investigate faster.
